Advances in Technology Have Revolutionized Franking
In the US market, for example, new technology has had a marked effect on mail processing. In 2004, around 16% of all mail was still being processed using conventional stamps, around 23% by franking machine and around 60% using digital solutions. By 2008 this had changed significantly, with the “stamp-lickers” now accounting for just 13%, and franking machine users also down at 19%. At the same time, digital franking solutions increased to 68%. This change in franking method is being driven by companies sending out high volumes of mail, i.e., over 2,000 letters per day. As far as the FP Group is concerned, this means that there are still companies out there with high mail volumes. The difference is that for reasons of time and cost saving, these companies are now turning to digital letter processing and moving away from franking machines. The FP Group is answering the challenges of this fast-growing market segment with its FPbusinessmail and FPsystemmail digital products. The flexibility of these new products means that there is now an optimal digital solution available for every type of company.
