Expanding Postal Services

The German mail market was completely liberalised in 2008. This has led customers to switch their volume mail away from Deutsche Post to alternative deliverers and service providers. According to a study commissioned by the Federal Network Agency, the volume of mail in Germany is around 19 billion, with the largest proportion of mail originating from commercial users. Among the companies which made use of Deutsch Post before 2008, some 45% have yet to switch to alternative deliverers or service providers. Of these, some 50% are currently considering a change of deliverer, or at least of making use of additional offers.
