Franking and Inserting
Within its traditional Mailroom segment (franking and inserting), the FP Group is concentrating on the development, manufacture and distribution of franking machines and inserting machines for small to medium-sized companies. This part of the business also provides after-sales services and products.
Customers use FP’s franking machines to automatically stamp large amounts of mail quickly. Processing outbound mail this way results in a major increase in efficiency, because postage is pre-loaded electronically into the machine and the franking machine automatically stamps each letter with the correct postage. In some countries, customers gain additionally from reduced postage charges where national post authorities grant rebates on mail stamped by franking machine. As all our franking machines are certified by the national, legally authorized, public or private postal organizations, mail processing using FP machines always runs smoothly. Our certificates implicitly include all consumables.
FP’s range of products run from the entry level mymail machine to our high-tech centormail system. centormail is a professional franking system first introduced towards the end of 2006. In one process, the system collates all the relevant letter data, adds an individual text message and stores data for further processing in other applications. This machine has a processing capacity of up to 150 letters per minute. It also has a sorting module which sorts franked mail according to pre-defined criteria, further increasing processing efficiency.
One major revenue driver in the Mailroom segment is our After-Sales-Business business, comprising recurring sales of consumables and services. This includes the sale of colour tapes or ink cartridges, services such as machine maintenance and spare parts sales, tele-postage (the electronic downloading by phone of postage onto franking machines), advertising business, in particular the printing of individualized logos or messages next to the franking.
With its franking machines, the FP Group is present worldwide on the major markets, including Germany, the US and Great Britain. With an installed base of around 268.000 franking machines, the Company has a worldwide market share of 9.6%. The FP Group operates branches in eight countries and has dealerships in 44 countries. We are particularly strongly represented in Germany and Austria, with a market share of 45% and 48% respectively.
