1923

Beginnings.
In 1923, Germany faces economic collapse. Prices are spiralling much faster than wages. In the last days before the economic reform, prices change almost by the hour. Postage stamps are printed without the postage charge and postal clerks complete them with the charge by hand day-by-day. Innovation is needed. For example, the first franking machines in the world where the postage charge can be freely adjusted.
On July 11, 1923 the sales and distribution company "Postfreistempler GmbH, Bielefeld" is founded by Anker, Bafra and the Furtwängler Clockfactory, Furtwangen. The latter company departs again in 1927 without making a contribution. Francotyp A from Bielefeld and Francotyp B from Berlin are subsequently officially authorised and produced.
